A roguelike card battler built from regular playing cards.
Play as King or Queen and face down the Joker.
A run starts at the Citadel. You pick a
Monarch, whose Hero Power shapes how you play, then
push into a Quarter of the map and fight through
whatever the Joker has left holding it.
What's in it
- One Quarter to fight through — The Abbey. Four at 1.0: the Mines, the Graveyard and the Tower.
- 40 collectable cards, every one a real playing card. All 52 at 1.0.
- 847 million possible decks — ten cards, no duplicates. 15.8 billion at 1.0, more than there are people alive.
- Two Monarchs, each with a Hero Power that shapes how you play. All eight at 1.0 — a King and a Queen of every suit.
- 13 encounters and one Boss. 52 encounters and four Bosses at 1.0.
- 1.1 million possible maps — eight layouts, encounters dealt fresh from the Quarter, and a Boss hiding in one of the late rooms. Re-entered rooms re-roll into a fight, a rest, or something stranger.
- Three tables run by the Shady Card Shark, where you can gamble a card, a curse, or your luck. See what he offers.
- Four damage identities — Spades burn, Diamonds corrode, Clubs bleed, Hearts cure. Only one can sit on a unit at a time.
- Monarchy Skills, a permanent tree at the Citadel that grows from every finished run, won or lost.
- The Bottomless Pit, an endless descent that opens under the Citadel once you have beaten the Abbey. Nothing heals between levels, and how deep you got is the score. How far down does it go?
- The Joust — local versus on one machine, with all 52 cards and all eight Monarchs unlocked. Hot-seat, or against the AI, or watch two of your own decks fight. See the format. Online lobbies at 1.0.
- 1.0 Design your own cards and encounters in game. A form goes in, a real card comes out.
